As a Buyer, it was my responsibility to manage my respective category and drive sales. This is accomplished through performing:
- Key metric analysis weekly (or daily) sales trends such as: sales, return rate, margin, weeks of supply, markdowns, RTVs, conversion, add-to-cart ratio, website impressions, etc.
Competitive analysis (at both the brand level and the retailer level)
Product pricing analysis
Curate marketing promotions based on seasonality, holidays, etc.
Select merchandise based on sales history, market trends, understanding of seasonal trends regionally as a merchandiser for the entire U.S.
- Negotiate contractual and payment terms with vendors
Perform frequent quality control testing
